It is totally clear to me that the architectural topology that puts process automation as the primary abstraction of IT has had its day... mass digitalisation changes everything.

By looking at nature, we see a different architecture - one where there is a foundational communication and integration infrastructure... the blood stream.

The bloodstream decouples producers from consumers, enabling a more rapid adaptation.

If we liberate Data in the same way, to flow freely around an organisation and then have tools to enable their FAIR use... Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable... then we have a much more stable foundation for the provision and evolution of IT systems.

By de-coupling, we isolate the impact of change.
By extending to include processing in stream, we have a control place for AI - a single point of governance, audit and control.

Like so many things - it is about finding the balance point across these different architectural topologies where data is first liberated and then we deliver specific business capabilities that are driven from the creation of the data itself.

This is a necessary change to deliver full, AI driven automation.

Really exciting times...
