There are few books that fundamentally changed the way I view software development. Until recently, the last one was Extreme Programming explained by Kent Beck. As I read that book it was as if Beck had put into words all the things I believed about how to develop software but couldn't quite express. Reading McComb's books Software Wasteland and The Data Centric Revolution gave me the same feeling. This is a fundamental shift in how we develop software that can take advantage of new standards that have been around for a while but have yet to make a big impact in most of industry.
